So, I don’t have a TV, never owned one. And I don’t get the newspaper. So I might not be completely up-to-date on the Propaganda, I mean, the News.
So, I went into town this morning for breakfast, to a nice place where I go to at least once a week and have never worn a face diaper. And it was quite crowded, people waiting for tables both inside and outside (of course one of the the waitresses there has the hots for me, so no problem — she took my order even before I was seated [and I bought lots of nice cookies to bring home with me for breakfast tomorrow with my coffee]).
And, NO ONE was wearing a mask. None of the Staff nor any of the Patrons.
No one.
How cool. Reminded me of this bar I went into in a small town about an hour north of here. Went there a few months ago to hear my buddy’s daughter sing and he play backup for her. I was running late and hungry and so stopped at this little bar on the side of the road going into town. I walked in and the bar was full, elbow-to-elbow, but there was one empty stool at the bar which I took. And everyone asked me my name, who I was, where I was from, and shook my hand (Hoosiers). And I’m sitting shoulder-shoulder with people at this bar, where the bartender doesn’t know what an IPA is and she has both Bud and Bud Light on tap, and people are smoking cigarettes and no one is wearing a mask. I thought I was McFly in the Back to the Future movie! So I had a Bud, smoked a cigarette, looked at pictures of motorcycles, ate a fish sandwich, and spoke and shook hands with everyone. I’ll ride my motorcycle up there next really hot day.
Anyway, so in this restaurant this morning, no one is wearing a mask. And I got seated such that I could watch the front door. After awhile, one guy walked in wearing a big black mask over his face. (And we all pulled out our guns thinking this was a stick-up, no, I just made that up). And in less than a minute he had his mask down below his chin, and later you couldn’t even see it.
Peer pressure works both ways it seems.
Of course, other places with TV’s, Universities, and Newspapers, there may still be a Pandemic. I don’t know.
