After raising many dogs and two perfectly-trained wolves1, I consider myself to be one of the best dog/wolf trainers. I of course, also believe I’m one of the most humble2 people in the world.
When I’m in Mexico, my brother, besides taking me to wonderful restaurants, often takes me to dog shelters (have been to 3) to just walk dogs3. Some large “problem dogs” at an under-staffed shelter with a hundred dogs might not get walked even once a week! On my latest trip to Mexico, I was looking forward to a meeting my brother had arranged for me with a “Dog Whisperer” whose reputation is legendary — this woman can take a dog that all thought would unfortunately have to be put down, and within 15 minutes, or perhaps 2 days, have it be a model dog ready for adoption NOB (North of the Border)4.
It turns out that the Dog Whisperer and I believe in many common basics (e.g., most problems are with the people, not the dogs), but, of course, I learned some new tricks from her and she perhaps some interesting things from me. We began, not talking about dogs, but human psychology, because everything we know about human psychology applies to dogs.
And the point of this Posting has nothing to do with wolves or dogs … rather, as you know, of course, it’s always always about me. Namely, I realized, like Duh!, just how my new woman-friend has gotten me following her around like a puppy dog!5
Yep, you may know all the tricks, but that doesn’t make you immune from them! i.e., just look at all the Ph.D. psychologists and sociologists that got 100% invested in the MSM Hyped-Hysteria CoVid-1984 Mass-Psychosis Fear-Pandemic which I don’t and won’t ever talk or write about again.
And the more and more I read and talk to Canine experts, the more and more I ask myself, “What really is a wolf” (besides the obvious: 4 legs, a mouth and a nose!). There will be a posting on this subject someday, for sure!
One could say true humility is just accepting your talents for what they are … which may mean simply one stating that they are the best! And, no, I’ve never claimed to be the BEST physicist in the world.
And one of the funniest things is that after several training sessions (me being trained), the local Brown County Animal Shelter did not think I would be a suitable volunteer dog-walker!
I may have disappointed many at these shelters because they thought for sure they could get me to fall in love with one (or more) of their dogs and take it (them) back, NOB, often already having the dogs picked for me. But I’m holding out for another wolf-pup. For some reason I like wolves, whatever they are, and I like getting them as puppies: this way I can fuck them up and don’t have to deal with someone else’s fuck-ups.
Which is not to say my lady friend is deliberately or knowingly training me. Or is she?
I highly recommend adopting an adult rescue dog at least once in your life. You'll end up learning more about yourself and your spouse than anything else. And you will end up with the best, most grateful, loving friend you could ever imagine.
Hilarious!!
